Craving for charcoal chicken but want to try a new unique recipe? Well, there is a restaurant that also serves the best-on-its-unique-style charcoal chicken in the Philippines, along with other well-known brands.

Jo’s Chicken Inato has been serving the people of Visayas and Mindanao their ultimate favorite and loved charcoal-grilled chicken since its establishment in 1985. It serves barbecued chicken with a unique flavor and crisp skin that you will surely love. Many say that Jo’s Chicken Inato is a Duaguetue’s version of Bacolod’s famous Inasal with unique distinction.

To feel at home, they serve their chicken in platters of banana leaves with classic Filipino pickled papaya. Customers could freely eat with their bare hands, also known as “Kamayan” or “Kinamot” in the Visayas.

Several Jo’s Chicken Inato customers testified that the taste and flavor of the chicken have never changed; it’s the same taste and flavor they love. Aside from their famous barbecued chicken, they also serve various dishes, soups, appetizers, and desserts.

From the variety of food items Jo’s Chicken Inato has to offer, here are five of Jo’s Chicken Inato menu items.

Our Top 7 Favorite Jo’s Chicken Inato Menu Items:

4. Macao Canton

Noodles at its best! Canton Noodles are deliciously sauteed with meat, shrimp, and vegetables in oriental style.

5. Manok sa Buko

6. Pochero Soup

A Cebuano specialty soup of simmered beef bone marrow spiced up with young corn, bamboo shoots, and vegetables.

How Jo’s Chicken Inato started:

The first and main branch of Jo’s Chicken Inato was established in Dumaguete City in 1985. It was initiated by a couple of Jesse and Josephine Ng when they noticed that people in the cities and provinces in Visayas and Mindanao love barbecued chicken. The couple decided to make a special recipe of barbecued chicken distinct from others and thought of putting up their own restaurant.

The “Jo’s” in the restaurant’s name was derived from Josephine, while the word “inato” was a shortened version of “atin ito,” which indicates their unique ways on how they cooked their chicken. Compared to Visayan-style grilled barbecues, their version of chicken barbecue is not salty, however, it has a sweeter taste.

Jo’s Chicken Inato became popular among the Visayas region with its delicious and unique barbecued chicken. Upon opening its additional branch in Mandaue in 1996, the public was delighted with its unique chicken barbecue. Today, It has branches all throughout Visayas and portions of Mindanao.
